    Altstadtbrunnen

Freya 26. September 2011     Kein Kommentar     Auf Reisen, Schweizerlei, Westeuropa

In Chur one can find 20 fountains in the historic city centre, I still haven’t found them all. Every of them has some kind of history, either for their design or for their use. By the way, all of the fountains contain drinking water, so don’t hesitate and taste a sip of fresh mountain-water. Today

Today I went all the way up to the „Mittenberg“.  On my way  I came across a small chapel called „St. Luzikapelle“. It almost seems like the chapel is inside a cave because the rocks overhang the small building. An old man told me that there is some kind of natural image of a saint

Built between 1544-1548, „Schloss Haldenstein“ shows the beginning of Renaissance in Graubünden. Its garden with the thick walls shows the splendor and power of the Renaissance era. The pleasure gardens are built upon artifical terraces, therefore they are also known as “ Hanging Gardens“. The garden holds a magnificant rosarium and until now they have

Lights off in Valldemossa. At least in Palma there is still a sight of light and life. Do people in Valldemossa actually sleep that early? 9 x 14 cm, coloured pencil and Schmincke watercolour on Moleskine Volant paper.

    Cartuja de Valldemossa

„Real Cartuja de Valldemossa“ – From the Carthusian-cloister garden you have a perfect view to its neoclasic church. In 1751 they started building the new church on top of the old primitive church. You can see its spire covered with green tiling from almost everywhere in the village. The monks lived there from 1399 to

„La Real Cartuja de Valldemossa“ – Valldemossa’s charterhouse – is one af the most famous sights in Majorca. The 18th century monastery has been inhabited by some grand people in the 19th century. For instance, Frédéric Chopin and Gerorge Sand have been there in the winter of 1838/1839. If you have come all the way

Yesterday I found a Zebra Finch near the Valldemossa Police Station. It can be found nativly in Australia and Timor-Leste (Southeast Asia). Of course, the bird is called Zebra Finch because of its remarkable zebra markings on the throat and upper breast. The beak is intensive red, and as my Zebra Finch is male, it

But don’t hesitate to head even further for the rocks on the right and left hand side of the beach. It will be less crowded

This night was the „Beata“ celebration at Valldemossa. It means „Blessed“ and is in honour of the „Beata Catalina Tomàs“. She is Valldemossa’s saint, as she was born there. Firtst, there is picture time at Saint Catalinas house, in front of a flower-decorated framework. In the background is a bronze statue of Santa Catalina. At

    Cala Antena

The smallest bay in Calas de Mallorca is called „Cala Antena“. Obviously it  is less crowded than the bigger bays. If you fancy to chill out, that’s the beach where you should go. Nowhere else in Calas you can have a cool Mojito right at the beach. Therefore you must stop at the „Mojito“ beach-hut,

Hier findest du all meine Erinnerungen. Schön, dass du vorbei schaust!
